Pioneer & Early Settler Certificates
We invite you to join us in our effort to record and preserve our early Oregon history. The Oregon Genealogical Society has issued in excess of 4500 certificates to descendants since October 1978.
You are eligible to apply for an Oregon Pioneer Certificate if your direct ancestor lived in the Oregon Territory or in the state of Oregon before October 31, 1872.
If your ancestor arrived in Oregon October 31, 1872 through December 31, 1900 you may apply for an Early Settler Certificate.
To apply for an Oregon Pioneer or Early Settler Certificate complete the application and submit it with required documentation. The Pioneer Certificate Committee will process your application and when accepted will produce and mail your certificate(s) to you.
The fee required with your certificate application is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for nonmembers. If you have more than one Pioneer and/or Early Settler in your lineage, you may submit applications singly or in bulk. If you submit multiple applications at one time the “first” is charged at $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers and the fee for each additional certificate submitted at the same time is $12.00 for members and $17.00 for nonmembers. A $5.00 postage and handling fee will be added to each order shipped to a single United States address.
